Water You Making? Set Sail With Vikings!

Today we continued our drop in craft time with guests from The American Historical Swedish Museum. Educator Karin Nordbrandt shared Viking history and artifacts from the museum with our library friends in a program called Set Sail with Vikings!


We learned the history of Vikings, Scandinavian explorers, warriors and merchants who raided, traded, and settled in wide areas of Europe and Asia from the late eighth to the mid-eleventh century.

Karin shared different artifacts as well as facts about the lives of Vikings.

We created shields and Viking jewelry. By far the moist popular thing was Hnefatafl, aka Viking chess.
