We have found a great new way to look for and share ideas for storytime, programs and events at the library...Pinterest!
Miss Abbe and I have been obsessed and have been happily pinning ideas for programs, crafts, books and just things we think are cool.
If you would like to follow our boards check us at http://pinterest.com/lanspublibrary/.
Here are some of Miss Rachee's favorite pins from the last week.
We are proud to once again be a part of the Suburu Cherry Blossom Festival of Greater Philadelphia. Here is a cool craft to bring pink cherry blossoms to the library.
Miss Rachee has a love hate relationship with origami. From her: "It's so beautiful but I get frustrated with not being able to fold it properly!" This web site has some really easy folds to make doable origami.
Fans are a huge hit. We can decorate them as we'd like or use a template and add splashes of bold colors.
Japanese sandals
These are so adorable! I will fully admit that I pinned them thinking these were just too cute but the more I thought about it the more I realized that we could make these little sandals as keep sake boxes!
Speaking of clothing...what a cool way to use some colorful paper! Origami kimonos!
The site we found looks doable.
Lastly we thought we could make lanterns and begin to introduce this year's Summer Reading theme, Dream Big. This owl is absolutely adorable and costs about three dollars. We would have to purchase the lanterns and we are lucky to have a craft closet full of supplies. Each child would be able to go home with a cute friend.
Do you pin? Let us know so that we can follow you.
Hope to see you during the Suburu Cherry Blossom Festival. We are planning special storytimes and events the week beginning Monday, March 26 2012.
