Children's Book Week is Coming!

Children's Book Week, May 2nd through May 8th, is the national celebration of books and reading for youth.

Since 1919, Children's Book Week has been celebrated countrywide with author & illustrator appearances, parties, storytelling, and other book-related events in schools, libraries, bookstores, clubs -- anywhere where kids and books connect.

We are celebrating all week long with these events:

It’s the Rocky Horror Shrek Show!: Monday 5/2 @ 4PM

When one is at the movies the polite thing is to be quiet but here you are encouraged to talk!
Join us as we watch the first Shrek complete with subtitles and props!
Recite your favorite parts, sing the songs and enjoy an ogre sized afternoon!

Library Scavenger Hunt: Tuesday 5/3 (all day)
Can you find all of the things on the list? Complete the hunt for special prizes!

Stop, Drop and Craft!!: Wednesday, May 4th at 4PM

Join as we welcome special guest, local author and illustrator Amy Ignatow! Amy is the author of The Popularity Papers and will do a drawing and comics workshop as well as discuss her book.

Game Day and Comic Book Swap!: Friday 5/6 @3PM

Get ready for Free Comic Book Day (the first Saturday in May) by swapping comics with your library friends, play the Wii or join us for board games. Bring your own systems to play while you wait!

Please get your parent’s permission to bring your system!

We will have storytimes all week:

Monday 5/2 @10AM: Preschool Playschool for ages 2-5
Tuesday 5/3 @ 10:30 AM:  Bibs-n-Books for ages infant through 3
Wednesday 5/4 @6:30 PM: Sleepytime Tales for the whole family
Thursday 5/5 @ 10:30 AM: Wee Reads for ages 3-5

Book discussion group:
Thursday 5/5 @ 4:00 PM
Book Bunch is a book discussion group for the youngest readers. Children ages 4-7 are invited to read and create a craft based on familiar and new picture books. New readers and crafters are always welcome!

Stop by for one or more of these events!
